Tyler never really got a formal introduction on this site. So here my buddy that’s hung out with me almost for a whole year already. This is Tyler, you’ve seen him at the park if you’ve seen me there
I take him to the park each time I go there, and he loves it. Same thing at the beach. And I’m sure he appreciates his 4-6 walks per day.
Unfortunately he isn’t mine. The owner now wants him back. Its funny how Tyler wasn’t very well wanted before, he was a mischievous maladjusted 4 year old dog. But after a long time with me, he behaves well. He has learned tricks. And he’s even good enough to wait until you walk him outside before doing his business 9 out of 10 times. That one time he goes on one of the floor pads is because I took too long to walk him. He’s now generally well adjusted to living with people, respecting them and listening, now they want him back. He doesn’t hump anymore, or bark, or take off and disappear for hours. Word travels fast that Tyler is “good” now. So with sadness and quiet anger in my part he’s going back.
As a way to either soften the blow, or just to try to be cool about the whole thing, we’ve gotten a new puppy. He’s getting along great with Tyler, but he’s very well behaved in his own right. He’s 9 weeks old now, and we decided to name him Picasso.
Mulling over the idea of a new puppy for a couple months is great, because when you actually get the puppy is exactly nothing like you had imagined. He currently has two goals in mind, one is to drink water as if that was his last chance, ever, each and every time he can. Two, is to hump Tyler’s head. There is an actual third goal, but I haven’t decided if it’s actually a goal, or just a result of all the water from goal number one. So depending on how you look at it, his third goal might be to pee in as many training pads as possible in one day, while making sure to miss about half the time.
Besides the constant mouthing of things everywhere, and the peeing every 15 minutes, he’s really cool. He’s getting better at waiting to be taken outside for a walk to take care of the heavy stuff, if you know what I mean; but to pee… I think sometimes he waits until we’re back in before deciding to unload the liquids. My patience gets tested tested from time to time, but I can quickly regain control when I remember that a quick treat and some basic obedience training buy me his attention for at least 23 seconds.
So he’s still too young to be taken to the park, but as soon as he’s old enough he’ll become a regular at the park, just like his new friend Tyler.
– after I wrote that — I wrote this post with the intention of posting it last Sunday, but I have had some computer problems. I don’t have photos to show you yet, but some of you met him already. I took him to the park after I wrote this, but he couldn’t go down on the grass yet. He’s too young. Come back soon and you’ll find some photos of the little guy.
One more update: I found a couple of pictures of Picasso and Tyler playing, thought you might want to see them. He looks vicious but that’s just how they play. He thinks he’s a beast.

Picasso is part Beagle, and possibly part Terrier
